Dragon's Throat: From Defeat to Triumph
I found this challenge mission incredibly hard when tried it initially. I think a lot of other people have had the same impression as well. It's difficult to find a group because a lot of people are close minded about builds/classes.
I was beginning to think that it wasn't possible to win with a PuG but today I had to change my mind.
I just finished it with a great team of two MMs, myself as SS/MoP necro, a Barrage ranger, Elementalist Fire Nuker and a Ritualist.
We brought henchman monks because it's very hard to find any monks willing to join a PuG for the mission.
I think that massive damage is key in this mission. If you're a tank/assassin and want to do this mission it's worth noting that a prot monk on your team makes life much much easier for you. Melee characters suffer a lot due to the Death Nova like damage the mutants do when they die. A bonder could really help with that.
Here's an SS with my bar showing my skill setup. (16 curse/10 SR/10 Blood)

SS + MoP works so well against assassin mob when you have a decent amount of minions up. Our two MM's did a masterful job of always having 20 up throughout the encounter. With MoP and SS most groups died within 2 - 5 seconds. AoE from the Ele and Barrage from the ranger complimented this.
I honestly think that a score near 400 would be possible if a warrior brought a group sprint so you could run from one encounter to the next very quickly.
Any of my PuG team members could probably add a lot more to this.
Anyways, Factions is a turning out to be quite a fun game for this formerly jaded Prophecies player.
Great job ANet!

I took my monk through that once, it was hell for a group that didn't know what was going on. Apart from running the wrong way, we died often and wasted time ressing =P.
I think having the barrage ranger bring along edge of extinction would make it even faster. GJ on new record though.
@Reaxzor
You don't need to beat Dragon's Throat to continue the story, just take the primary quest there.

Has the icon stopped glowing when you zoom out? Or not? Any way to get it to stop?
And great job!

has anyone cleared it yet? I mean the 9th room? best I have been able to do is like the 5th room... But those afflicted necro bosses mess us up bad in there...
These missions definitely require a very well balanced party...
However that being said this is an excellent mission to cap Elite skills in, as every class has at least 1 (normally 2 or 3) boss to defeat in this mission.
I'm thinking of a mending bonder too for that constant degen accumulation after 30 mins. that might get us a room or two further... IDK...

I'm up for going again. If you see me in-game give me a PM. There's definitely a lot of possibilities in terms of group builds.

We beat it first try. It definitely helps to have a MM. SS doesn't do as much, unless your Warriors know how to contain aggro -- otherwise, the baddies are just everywhere. An N/Me or Me/N Epidemicist can manage a bit better on that one.

I'm wondering how the new Elementalist PB AEs work with those huge masses of enemies... Starbust seems to own pretty damn well. It would be even better if the Afflicted were undead... Ray of Judgement would work really nice then. :]

My error -- I confused it with the mission following. Thought it was part of the main arc.
